We know that the studio has been working on a new project ever since July 2021, when the developers announced they were ending support for Mortal Kombat 11 in order to focus on “its next project”. Whatever the case may be, fans should find out more when the proper reveal for Mortal Kombat 12 comes.Is NetherRealm Studios working on Mortal Kombat 12? That seems to be one of the big questions swirling around the fighting game community right now.
Perhaps it will forge ahead with a brand-new timeline that essentially reboots the story, or maybe it will closely follow one of the endings from the expansion and treat it as canon.

However, the question still remained if NetherRealm's next game would be a new Mortal Kombat title, Injustice 3, or something else entirely. The long-running success of the Mortal Kombat franchise has meant that a new game in the world-famous fighting game franchise was an inevitability.
